Scarborough and District Canoe Club

Location

Scarborough is located on the East coast of England, south of Whitby and north of Hull. Scarborough has two main bays, North Bay and South Bay. Depending on conditions either bay may be used for play boating, surf kayaking or sea kayaking. However both bays can also be extremely dangerous. Exercise caution at all times.

Both bays have a range of facilities including public toilets, and cafes. South bay (which is far more developed) also has a variety of shops, amusement arcades and restaurants. It also houses the local life boat.

Please note that the parking restrictions at both bays (which change at various times of year) are vigorously enforced.

The third bay which is a short drive to the south of Scarborough is Cayton Bay. This is probably the least developed of the beaches but requires a strenuous walk down/up from car park to beach.

As a club we us all the local bays and rivers, and often travel further a field for day or weekend trips.

Scarborough has a large number of hotels and bed and breakfast establishments. There are also a number of caravan parks and campsites located by. Contact the local tourist information centre through our links page for further information.
