Scarborough and District Canoe Club
Meet t'team
The committee is made up of the following elected but unpaid members. We all want to be paid lots of money but suspect it is never going to happen. In the meantime we just work for free and get very wet both internally and externally.
Chairman: Nicki Oxbrow

We are delighted to see Nicki 'take the helm' in July 2010 as an enthusiastic young coaching member.
Membership Secretary: Anne Raper
After several attempts, spanning a period of some twelve
months, we have finally persuaded Anne that her life will be much enriched
by the pleasures of secretarial work for the club.
Treasurer: John Vinten
A founder member of the club, John Vinten will probably have to be carried
kicking and screaming from the club in a box (that is if he is ever in this
country for long enough). Actually, if you ask him where in the world he's
paddled a kayak, you'll be in for a fascinating tale.
Equipment Officer: Martin Stirling
Martin Stirling - Flounce with Style.
Former Chairman with bags of experience. If you ever get into difficulty see him in the pub after the event for a full review.
Instructor Liasion Officer: Jason Rapper
Jason is one of our most enthusiastic younger members and his energies, dogged determination to cartwheel and exemplary attitude to being left stranded on the slipway by the club's crew of sad old .....'s in last year's Boxing Day Raft Race do him great credit!
Instructor: Andrew Vaughan
Seen here wondering where all the surf has gone, Andy has a nice new boat.
Canadian rep: Julia Dunstone
Julie's not in the least bit camera shy!
Why not volunteer to work as a committe member?
Helping the club to run efficiently provides everyone with opportunities for enjoyable paddling . Some members have given up their time for many years in this way, and those of us who are benefitting from their hard work, and guidance are very appreciative of all they have done. To take on committee work involves attending a few meetings during the year but you don't have stand up and say clever things! Our approach is as informal and enjoyable as we can make it and new volunteers are essential if the club is to continue to function. Help spread the work load! Pictured below our long-standing treasurer explaining to the assembled Annual General Meeting why he'd needed the holiday in France.
