Scarborough and District Canoe Club

Where do we paddle

As we are based in Scarborough our main resource is the sea. We surf mainly in South Bay as it is the safer of the two bays as more shelter is provided by the harbour wall. Cayton Bay, Sandsend, Runswick Bay and Filey are other spots along the Yorkshire coast we use for surfing. When the water is calmer we paddle around Flamborough Head and Bempton Cliffs where there are caves to explore and, in the spring, teeming flocks of nesting seabirds to be seen. Filey Brigg is another exciting location in the right conditions.

Regular day trips to river such as the Ure, Wharfe, Derwent, Esk and Tees cater for the novice to advanced paddlers. In addition, we have weekends away to Wales and the Lake District and occasionally longer trips to Scotland.

We generally meet at north bay unless otherwise arranged.
